Full Life: Letters to My Students

18 November 2020in Learning

LC Press Publishes new book:

Full Life: Letters to My Students

The book, Full Life: Letters to My Students, consists of letters written by Headteacher and RS teacher Hans Broekman addressing the concerns and challenges of his students over a thirty-year period working in schools on two continents.

The letters are careful responses to situations which arise in school and which impact students directly. Broekman’s letters are born of reflection about the advice he gave at the time, and the advice he wishes he had given. The range of subjects covered covers many of the good and bad things which happen in the life of the school. The letters reveal an approach to education places the personal growth of students to a full maturity at the centre of the educational enterprise.

There are surprises here:

How to deal with a pupil who brings alcohol to school and drinks it on a toilet.

Why are conspiracy theories so popular with Year 11?

Sex and relationship education, is it really education at all?

Student protest and political engagement.

Why would anyone be a Christian?

All the challenges of a Full Life in education are here presented by students to an educator. These
though provoking letters show what is really happening in schools and what really matters to
students.

Well worth a read. As ever, LC Press publishes its book at cost. You can download for your
kind or ebook device or order the paperback here. LC press has commissioned several more books
which we will be rolling out over the next 12 months. We will continue to publish thoughtful and
provocative insights into schools and education.
